Hey there!
My name is Sarah, I run Purposefully Green! A little bit about me, I am a teacher here in upstate NY, I have a very loving partner named Emily, and some adorable furry children (Simon, Eloise, and Scout.)
I started this blog in 2020 during COVID-19.
Like much of the world, COVID-19 really changed my world. I had to stop working for months and was watching the world crumble. I saw store shelves empty, people in financial ruin, it was horrible.
This really moved me to want to be more independent from big chain stores, more budget-conscious, and more environmentally friendly.
I was on a mission towards self-sufficiency.
I wanted to produce my own food, make my own products, basically limit my trips to the grocery store.
I had grandiose ideas of moving to a big farm, producing all my food, having chickens for fresh eggs, milking cows and goats for my family, and making all my own beauty products. That was the dream. I soon realized that I was on a tight budget so, my suburban backyard would have to suffice. Chickens, goats, and cows would have to wait.
How terrifying was it during the pandemic when you could not get any cleaning products? Any produce? Canned goods? It really shocked me.
That was the spring I began my garden. I started canning my produce. Then, I started making my own bath products, cleaning products, basically anything I could make myself, I was trying it!
I just kept going! I began saving so much money and reducing my trips to the store.
I was loving how much money I was saving and the positive impact on the environment I was making.
It is going to be a long process, so I started this blog to track all my progress.
Thank you for stopping in and checking in on my journey! I cannot wait to share everything that I learn and discover with you!
Sincerely,
Sarah
